Eastern Idaho – A Climber’s paradise

Located in the shadow of the Tetons Eastern Idaho has specifically been blessed with a surplus of world class climbs. This page gives info on some of the climbing routes in Eastern Idaho.

Heise Rock

With 19+ sport routes ranging from 5.6 to 5.13 Heise Rock (Elaphant Rock) provides even the most seasoned climber with a challange. Heise Rock is located just east of of Idaho Falls, from Idaho Falls take highway 26 east, travel until you come to the turn marked Heise Hot Springs. Travel north following the signs to the Hot Springs, the road evenutally crosses the Snake river, where it turns to the right. Heading east you will pass Heise Hot Springs, continue 1/4 mile and the rock is located to the left. Heise Rock is located on private land please be respectful and carry out all trash.

Paramount Rock

Paramount Rock has some great intermediate sport climbs ranging in deficultly from 5.8 to 5.10. Paramount Rock is located just a few miles east of Heise Rock. From Idaho Falls take highway 26 east, travel until you cometo the turn marked Heise Hot Springs. Travel north following the signs to High Hot Sprins/ Kelly Canyon, the road eventually crosses the Snake river, where it turns to the right. Heading east you will pass Heise Hot springs, continue 3 miles. Paramount rock is located to the left of the road just past the first cattle gaurd. There is a small parking lot on the left of the road. Fallow the small path to the bottom of the rock.
